Anyone who is new to the AIP community and looking to make connections with other residents is invited to our next New Neighbor Meet & Greet from 4:30-5:30 pm Wednesday, June 7, at The Oaks, 203 Sea Marsh. This informal event will start with a welcome and a chance to ask questions, followed by a tour of The Oaks, our beautiful community gathering spot. NASA Earth Science researcher at next Thoughtful Thursday For most people, NASA conjures images of astronauts and space exploration. However, NASA also provides free and publicly available observations from space, air, sea, and land that are critical for informing policy and action to protect planet Earth. Dr. Liz Wiggins of NASA’s Langley Research Center in Virginia will share an eye-opening perspective of our world at our next Thoughtful Thursday at 5 pm May 25. UNF partners with AIPCA for Thoughtful Thursday

Amelia Island Plantation Community Association (AIPCA) members filled the Sunset Room in The Oaks Community Center April 27 to hear University of North Florida (UNF) art history professor Dr. Debra Murphy speak about Dutch master Johannes Vermeer, currently the subject of a “once in a lifetime” exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Murphy, the inaugural chair of the Department of Art and Design at UNF, provided insights into Vermeer’s life and art and shared her own experiences visiting the Rijksmuseum exhibit.
