Brighten the season for the less fortunate in Nassau County by contributing to AIPCA’s annual Season of Giving donation drive. The drive will launch Monday, December 2, and continue through Wednesday, December 11. Place your donations in the decorated drop boxes inside The Oaks Community Center, 203 Sea Marsh.

AIPCA is supporting two outstanding local nonprofit organizations this year.

Gracie’s Kitchen maintains a food pantry as well as serving 3,000-3,500 hot dinners per month. Open four days a week to serve guests, the kitchen functions with volunteer teams from various churches and organizations who cook, serve, and help maintain the facility in an old school building. Gracie’s Kitchen needs non-perishable food items and canned goods — cereal, soups, stews, vegetables, fruits, pasta, pasta sauces, crackers, cookies, water, juice, sports drinks, mac & cheese/pasta meals, tuna, chicken, and single-serving items. No glass containers, please. Unopened wet and dry pet food are also appreciated.

Micah’s Place, Nassau County’s only certified domestic violence center, operates a 24-hour hotline and an emergency shelter. It also provides support groups, economic empowerment, and legal advocacy, Child Protective Investigative Team support, and more. Micah’s Place requests gift cards ranging from $10 to $100 from local clothing, department, or grocery stores. These empower survivors to purchase gifts for their child and children the opportunity to shop for their parent. Fill a stocking with small gifts for children or adult survivors staying at the emergency shelter. Include name tag indicating appropriate age and gender (if needed)
