Doors to the Sunset Room will open at 5 pm for card sales. Cards cost just $1. Sales are cash only, and $1 and $5 bills are greatly appreciated. “Focus on 50” is a three-part presentation series examining various aspects of Amelia Island Plantation’s history. Our Thoughtful Thursday on February 22 will kick-off this in-depth look into our history with “Design with Nature,” an influential book by one of the world’s most influential landscape architects of the 20th century – Ian McHarg. McHarg’s “McHargian Analysis” process sought to balance the built environment with the natural environment. Moderated by AIPCA Board Member Owen Williams, the evening featured reflections on the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the founding fathers from Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, where he teaches constitutional law in both Yale College and Yale Law School. We’re kicking off the holiday season in AIP with good food, bright lights, and holiday cheer at Light Up The Oaks starting at 5:30 pm Friday, December 1. We’ll flip the switch on the hundreds of festive lights decorating the community center at approximately 6:15 pm. Children will enjoy storytime and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Watch popular short TV holiday classics on an outdoor screen. Try your hand at decorating an ornament to take home, or write Santa a letter and tell him what you really want this year.
