Approximately 7,000 years old, the Okefenokee Swamp is a vast, peat-filled bog inside a huge, saucer-shaped depression that was once part of the ocean floor. It’s home to hundreds of animal and plant species, including endangered animals such as the American bald eagle and wood stork.

Our speaker will be Katie Antzack, Environmental Science Education Coordinator at the Okefenokee Swamp Park and the Science Specialist at the Okefenokee Regional Education Service Agency. She’ll discuss the history of the swamp as well as its ecological and geographical features.
